Elliott is a strategist, operational planner, and trainer with over 30 years of experience in government, business, and the non-profit sectors. He is a passionate communicator with a unique ability to form and build teams, leverage existing organizational strengths, and help visualize future goals merged with concrete plans for achieving them. A professional actor, he is also skilled in using narrative storytelling to effectively engage training audiences to find common ground and improve internal team communications.
Having served in leadership positions in both chief executive and operating leader roles in organizations with up to 1,000 employees, Elliott knows the pressure to perform under difficult circumstances. Operational tours with the US Army in Bosnia and Iraq provided him with experience and insights into operating in complex, high-stakes, multi-national environments. His work as a Senior Program Manager at Lockheed Martin opened the door to understanding corporate pressures and expanding efforts into new business domains. And his time spent representing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, and his ongoing work as a board leader in arts organizations infused him with an appreciation of the unique challenges in the non-profit and philanthropic operating space.
Elliott holds a Master of Science degree in Strategy from the National War College in Washington DC. and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Drama from Abilene Christian University. He serves as the past Chair and current Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Theater Alliance of Washington DC. During his watch, the company has increased revenue by over 400 percent and has been recognized for its artistic achievements with 13 Helen Hayes Awards, including 4 for Outstanding Play or Musical. His ability to apply common strategic principles and develop executable action plans across multiple fields of endeavor are the hallmark of Mr. Bales’ work.
When not involved in helping companies with strategy development or performing for stage, film and television, Elliott lives in Arlington, Virginia and enjoys spending time with his children, his granddaughter, and his grandpup Copper.
